Mary Catherine Theobald
Mary Catherine Theobald, 87, of Springfield, went to be with her Lord at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Regency Nursing Care Residence. She was born on October 6, 1926 in Springfield, to Taylor and Winifred Smith Spoonemore. She married Duane Theobald on October 3, 1954.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Chuck Spoonemore, three sisters, Shirley Jiardina, Betty Sellers and Martha Schmetz.
Surviving are her husband, Duane Theobald of Springfield; a step-son, Ron (Judy) Theobald of Chatham; two step-grandchildren, Kim (Mark) Smith of Athens and Lisa Moriconi of Chatham; four step – great grandchildren; one brother, John (Janet) Spoonemore of North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Willa Spoonemore of Decatur and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary was a resident of Springfield all of her life. She was an active member of West Side Christian Church, where she participated in many activities, particularly with Floyd’s Follies. She loved animals, specifically cats and had a passion for rescuing strays. Mary retired from Franklin Life Insurance Company after 42 years of service as a correspondent, working with agents worldwide.
Visitation: 9-10 am, Thursday, February 13, 2014 at West Side Christian Church.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Thursday, February 13, 2014 at West Side Christian Church with Reverend Gary Winkleman officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Benld Adopt-A-Pet Animal Shelter.

Duane, you have my sympathy. I met Mary through Christian Business and Professional Women's Club. I enjoyed our time together at that organization and always enjoyed visiting when I saw you and her.
