Mary Ann Midden
Mary Ann Midden, 74, of Rochester, died at 2:30 am, Thursday, April 19, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital after a long series of illnesses. She was born September 11, 1943 in Springfield to Harold James and Margaret “Peg” Flynn Sheehan. She married William “Bill” Midden on April 7, 1962.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; four daughters, Kathleen (John) Quinn, Susan (Elbert) Weller, Maureen (Curt) Brown and Ann Marie Johnson, all of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 9 step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sally Dixon and Marguerite (Rick) Richards, both of Springfield; brother, Harold “Mike” (companion, Carol Fate) Sheehan of Franklin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, James “Jim” Midden and infant son, William Midden.
Mary Ann was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society and was a cooperator of Opus Dei. She was also a member of the Queen of Peace prayer group. She dearly loved her Catholic faith.
Mary Ann carried her humor and her cute Irish grin – and always had a twinkle in her eye also – with her, but they remain forever in our hearts.
Known as “Doatsie” to her family and “Muggie” to her grandchildren (and their friends) she cherished most of all, giving them her special loving “Muggie” kisses.
She attended Little Flower Grade School, Ursuline Academy and Brown’s Business College. She was a homemaker and raised her family with love. Later in life she was the Executive Office Manager of Fall River Industries, Inc.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Monday, April 23, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A prayer service will be held at 4 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Christopher House officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
