Mary Ann Benya

Mary Ann Benya, 79, of Springfield, died at 9:42 am, Thursday, July 17, 2014 at her home. She was born August 23, 1934 in Springfield, to Charles E. and Anne N. Mosteika Foster.

Survivors include two nephews, Brad (Linda) Foster of Sarasota, FL and Greg (Carla) Foster of Fayetteville, AR; one niece, Deanna (Richard) Lowe of Rogers, AR; one great niece, Rebecca Lowe; one great nephew, Matthew Lowe and her cats, Stratton and Jared.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles A. Foster.

Mary Ann was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She was active with the Muni Opera and Lincoln Memorial Gardens. She enjoyed reading and belonged to a book club. She also enjoyed bird watching and was a master gardener. She had worked as a clerk for a Federal Judge and then owned and operated a ceramic shop.

Visitation: 5-7 pm, Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Monday, July 21, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Sister Mary Jean Traeger officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
