Mary Alice Albers

Mary Alice Albers, 93, of Springfield, died at 6:36 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at River Birch Senior Living. She was born June 17, 1918 in Springfield to August and Mary Novy Schmidt. She married Glenn Edward Albers on February 25, 1937 and he preceded her in death on November 23, 1997. She is also preceded in death by her parents and one brother: John Schmidt.
She is survived by one daughter: Lynne (Larry) Bailey of Springfield; three sons: Joseph (Sandra) Albers of Arlington Heights, IL, John (Kathy) Albers of Gulf Shores, AL and Thomas (Janet) Albers of Springfield; eight grandchildren: Michael (Lori) Albers, Stephen (Leslie) Albers, Michelle (Ray) Drodz, Melissa Albers, Brittany (Aaron) Puchbauer, Christine Albers, T.J. Albers and Zachary Albers and ten great-grandchildren.
Mary was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She enjoyed playing BINGO with her friends at McDonalds. She was a homemaker.
Visitation: 10-11:30 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2012 at Christ the King Church
Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2012 at Christ the King Church with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospice or SIU Simmons Cooper Cancer Research Center.
