Mary A Redding
Mary A. Redding, 84, of Springfield, died at 2:00 am, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born February 13, 1931 in Springfield, to George and Amelia Kleban Smith Ely. She married James W. Redding on March 3, 1951 and he preceded her in death on November 25, 1995.
Survivors include three sisters, Wanda Ely of Springfield, Helen (Rey) Ely Granados of Chicago and Carol Dietrich of Springfield; one brother, Andy Ely of Springfield; sisters-in-law, Patricia Smith and Bernadette Ely both of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Redding; one son, George Guyett in 1968; five, brothers, Thomas Smith, Edgar Smith, Barney “BJ” Ely, Jack Ely and Bill Ely and three sisters, Louise Ashley, Theresa Lewis and Leona Blake.
Mary retired from Neutronics/Capitol Engraving. She was a member of Church of the little Flower. She loved arts and crafts and gardening and enjoyed playing BINGO with her friends.
Visitation: 2-4 pm, Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 2 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Monday, November 30, 2015 at Church of the Little Flower with Father John Nolan officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
