Marvin Dale Johnson
Marvin Dale Johnson, 85, of Springfield, IL, died at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born on November 12, 1927 in Pittsfield to the late Arthur Dale and Louise Pauline Reinbold Johnson.
Marvin is survived by his cousins, Les (Connie) Allen of Pittsfield, Ralph (Helen) Johnson of Milwaukee, OR and Jean Coleman of Wheatland, WY; his very special friend, Florence Clymer of Springfield and several second cousins.
Mr. Johnson proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion and the Mel-O-Cream Coffee Club. He was born and raised around Hackney ponies and loved to watch show horses. He attended Rochester Christian Church.
In 1946, he began his career with Central Illinois & Midland Railroad Company as a Fireman. Through his 45 years of service he rose through the ranks and became a Superintendent. He retired in 1990.
Visitation: 9:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with David Upchurch officiating.
Graveside Service: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at West Cemetery in Pittsfield, IL where military honors will be conducted.
