SPRINGFIELD – Marjorie Miller, age 94, of Springfield, IL died at Memorial Medical Center at 12:20 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010. She was born on November 18, 1915 in Avoca, IN the daughter of Thaddeus and Odlite O’Neil Phillips. She married Arnold ‘Smokey Joe’ Miller on November 10, 1938 and he preceded her in death on March 6, 2008. She was also preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law; Judith Ann and Joseph Clegg and a sister; Frances Belleville.
Mrs. Miller was a resident of Springfield since 1967 and previously lived in Columbus, IN. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved flowers and birds, was a homemaker and also worked at Diana’s Dress Shop for 3 years.
She is survived by a daughter; Janet (husband; Eugene) Stormer of Springfield, IL and a son; Jerry (wife: Betty) Miller of Springfield, MO, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, September 6, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Miller and Rev. Eugene Stormer officiating. Burial will be at Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville, IL.
Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society.
