Marjorie A. Klickna
Marjorie A. Klickna, 97, of Springfield passed away at Memorial Medical Center on December 26, 2017 after a short illness.
Madge was born May 27, 1920, in Huntsville, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Irene De Jaynes VanOrmer. She married John A. Klickna of Springfield on December 27, 1941. He died January 17, 1986.
She is survived by her children Janet Shupe, Kim , (wife, Cinda), and Rebecca Bonoma; grandchildren Jason (Samantha) Klickna, Jessica (Michael) Yared, Andrew (Nora Zuckerman) Shupe, Abigail (John Pippen) Shupe, Keith Klickna, Kevin (Paula) Klickna, Halley (Joshua) Winer, and Jeffrey Bonoma; and six great grandchildren, Chloe and Camille Klickna, Addison, Johnny and Jacob Yared, and Liam Winer. She is also survived by two sisters, Eleanor (Tom) Clark and Marilyn Fiedler. She was preceded in death by her parents, son John, sister Caroline Trimble and sons-in-law Anson Shupe and William Bonoma.
She graduated from Rushville High School in 1937, from St. John’s School of Nursing in 1942,and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1974 and Master of Arts in 1976, both from Sangamon State University.
She retired in 1982 after 20 years as a school nurse in District 186, Springfield.
She was a member of Kumler U. M. Church in Springfield, where she served on many committees and the Board of Trustees, and was a volunteer at Kumler Neighborhood Ministries for many years.
She was an avid fisherwoman, birdwatcher, and photographer who favored Kodachrome film and was known for her slide shows. She was a diehard Cubs fan, and thrilled when they won the World Series in 2016.
The family will host a visitation from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am, Friday, December 29, 2017 at Kumler United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Kumler UMC Endowment Fund or the St. Johns Hospital School of Nursing in honor of Marjorie A. Klickna.
