Marilyn E. Ley
Marilyn E. Ley, 88, of Springfield, died at 7:45 am, Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Memorial Hospice at Heritage. She was born February 21, 1930 in Detroit, MI, to Orrin Roby and Jennie Lassen Saunders. She married Robert Sanderson and he preceded her in death in 1984 and she married Charles Ley and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Ron Sanderson (life companion: Lisa Leeper) of Springfield and Bill (Marilyn) Sanderson of Clinton, MO; six grandchildren, Veronica (Micah) Walk, Sara Sanderson (companion: Scott Karn) and Jacob, Joshua. Jordan and Heather Sanderson; five great grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy Mahar of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands and one brother, Robert Saunders.
Marilyn was a long time member of Real Life Church. She was an avid card player, liked to bowl, play golf, visiting her home at the Lake of the Ozarks at Sunrise Beach, MO and enjoyed her many friendships. She was a very social member of Eagles, Elks and was a lifetime member at TRN Club.
Marilyn was an Account Tech for the State of Illinois for twenty one years at multiple agencies. She retired from the Comptroller’s office.
Visitation: 12 – 1 pm, Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 1 pm, Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Ken Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
