Margarte M. DeVaney
Margaret M DeVaney, 78, beloved Aunt of Rochester, lost her courageous Alzheimer’s battle on August 20, 2012 at Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 5, 1934 to Ewel “Bunk” and Maxine Goldsberry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Tom Goldsberry and Bob Goldesberry; sister-in-law, Cynthia Goldsberry; and a niece, Cindy Gravitt.
In 1952, she graduated from Feitshans High School and married Mike DeVaney; they were later divorced. As a young woman, Margaret was active in the performing arts and was a member of the chorus in several Springfield Municipal Opera productions. Margaret was retired from the State Appellate Defender’s office. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, cooking, decorating and being the hostess while entertaining friends and family. Margaret was a member of The Church of St. Jude in Rochester, IL.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Mike Goldsberry of Goshen, IN, Bobby Goldesberry of Virden, Lynn (Bob) Paice of Chatham, Chris Goldsberry of Elkhart, IN, Suzie McCreary of Osceola, IN, Pat (Shelly) Goldsberry of Elkhart, IN, Bryan Goldesberry of Carbondale, and Melissa Goldesberry of Springfield; her sisters-in-law, Joyce Goldesberry and Nancy Goldesberry of Springfield; and several great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Private Entombment: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Oak Ridge Chapel Mausoleum with Reverend Dean Probst officiating.

I've known Margaret since 1954. She introduced me to Mike's friend Duane Lambert who became my husband. I have happy memories of the good times we had. I was so sadden to hear of her battle with Alzheimer's. She was a great lady and I'm sure she is once again with her loved ones.
