Mamie Frankell Unser
Mamie Frankell Unser, 96, of Springfield, passed away at 1:30 am, Monday, December 18, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on December 16, 1921 in Springfield to Leonard and Jennie Montalbano. She married Lewis C. “Bill” Frankell on August 17, 1946 and he preceded her in death on May 2, 1977. Mamie later married Leo J. Unser on October 11, 1986 and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2000.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; one sister, Ann Montalbano and one brother, Anthony Montalbano.
Survivors include one daughter, Theresa Frankell of Pleasant Plains; one son, William C. Frankell of Fall City, WA; three grandchildren, Steven (Ericha) Brown and Stacey (Katlin) Douglas both of Springfield and Miranda Frankell of Colorado; five great grandchildren; one sister, Marguerite “Mickie” Culton of Springfield; two brothers, Frank Montalbano and Sam (Carole) Montalbano both of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mamie retired from the State of Illinois, Department of Public Aid after 18 years of service. She was also a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Cathedral Council of Catholic Women, St. Louise of de Marillac and AARP, Chapter 1955.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 9:30 am, Friday, December 22, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home -Springfield with Reverend Braden Maher officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
