Louise Mickens, 76, of Springfield formerly of East St. Louis, died at 8:16 pm, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born July 11, 1934 in Terrell, AR to Nelson and Ruth Hinton Booker. She married Thomas MIckens on October 14, 1963 and he preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors include three daughters, Valerie Dukes Farmer of Springfield, Ruthie Mickens Brown of Swansea, IL and Tina (Ricardo) Chandler of East St. Louis, IL; three sons, Darrell Booker of Swansea, IL, Thomas Mickens of Powder Spring, GA and Terry (Shanette) Mickens of East ST. Louis, IL ; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Mickens of St. Louis, MO and Darlene Mickens of Brooksville and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Louise was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of East ST. Louis and of the Red Hat Society and Senior Citizens Center bowling league. She was previously a resident of East St Louis and worked as a school bus driver.
