Louis Szabo, 84, of Springfield, died at 5:57 am, Sunday, October 7, 2018. He was born January 8, 1934 in Somogytur, Hungary to Margaret Szabo. He married Antonia Sator who preceded him in death in 1997. He then married Hilda Masica in 2002, and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter Lisa (Nick) Locki of Springifeld; two sons, Gregory (Kathy) Szabo of Sherman and Michael Louis (Laura) Szabo of Riverton; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth (Chris) Curry, Rebecca Szabo, Alex, Abby and Austin Locki, Isabella and Sebastian Szabo and Alyssa and Alayna Currie and two great grandchildren, Declan and Dawson Curry.
He was preceded in death by his mother, his first wife Antonia and his uncle, Janos.
Louis came to the United States in November of 1957 following the Hungarian revolution. He arrived at Camp Kilmer New Jersey and began working for Ryan Construction, traveling around the central Midwest constructing concrete grain elevators by hand. He worked for Allis Chalmers as a machinist. He owned his own dump truck business and later worked and retired from the Sand and Gravel industry as an operating engineer.
He was a member of AARP; German Club and Polish Club. He was a lifelong member of Magyarorszagi Reformatus Egyhaz Church.
Visitation: 9:00 – 10:30 am, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Chaplain Tim Haworth officiating. Burial will follow at Taylor Cemetery.
