Lois M. Stone
Lois M. Stone, 83, of Chatham, died at 7:31am, Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born January 12, 1934 in Hillsboro, to Kenneth Lyerla and Rose Vance. She married James A. Stone on December 19, 1953 and he survives.
Also surviving are her three children, Sheri (Steve) Hoff of Chatham, Lori (Kevin) Anderson of Springfield, and Reverend James Allen (Jeannie) Stone, Sr. of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren, Steven Hoff, Lisa Kaye Anderson, James Stone Jr., Bethany Septer, Bradley Stone, Wesley “Augie”, A.J. and Austin Middleton; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Smalley of Nokomis; fifteen nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, one daughter, Sandy A. Middleton, one brother Harold Lyerla, and her step father, Claude Carlock.
Lois was a resident of Chatham for thirty years. She retired after twenty years from Memorial Medical Center as a Supervisor for housekeeping. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham and the Ladies Guild. Lois loved to fish, camp, cook, and enjoyed playing cards. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation: 4-7 pm Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home- Springfield.
An additional visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 am Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham.
Funeral Service: 10:30 am Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made out to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham.
