Louis E. Alinger
SPRINGFIELD – Louis E. Alinger, 86, of Springfield died at 1:56 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2009, at Villa Healthcare East.
He was born Feb. 7, 1923, Fancy Prairie, the son of John and Della Parkhurst Alinger. He married Marcella Mae Cary on Nov. 25, 1949; she preceded him in death on March 22, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Laura Bell, Ruth Happel and Louise Cordery; and six brothers William, Loren, Henry, Everette, Lawrence and John Alinger.
He is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Gary) Johnson of Auburn, and Joyce Alinger of Springfield; a son, Jeff (Ronda) Alinger of Glenarm; five grandchildren,
Jeannie (Jay) Underfanger, Julie (Anthony) Giacomini, Jacob Johnson, Myles Johnson and Austin Alinger; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillie May (Medford) Luckey and Anna Fae (Samuel) Hourez; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Louis was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He was a painter at St. John’s Hospital, retiring in 1988 after 23 years of service.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of Painter’s Local. Louis was a dedicated husband and father.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, June 8, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with
Bill Vincent officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
