Louis A. Takacs
Louis A. Takacs, 96, of Springfield, died at 7:52 pm on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on February 2, 1920 in Divernon, IL to Anton and Mary (Papai) Takacs. He married Mary Rose Howard on December 18, 1948 at Church of the Little Flower in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Ann Goldsberry, Mary Kapshandy and Elizabeth Barrington and two brothers, Joseph and Frank Takacs.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Rose; three sons, Louis A. Takacs, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Thomas (Tara) Takacs of Bradenton, FL and John (Jean) Takacs of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins.
Louis attended Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran serving during World War II. Mr. Takacs was inducted into the Greater Springfield Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1977; and belonged to the 8th Air Force Historical Society and Fiat Allis Retirees Club. Louis worked for 33 years at Weaver Manufacturing as a machinist and 11 years at Fiat Allis.
Visitation: 10-11:30 am Friday, March 25, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11:30 am Friday, March 25, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
