Lois E. Wheeler

January 25, 1924 - May 31, 2011

Lois E. Wheeler, 87, of Springfield, died at 2:02 am, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born January 25, 1924 to Lemon and Matra Lee Burris Morrison in Green County, Kentucky. She married George Edward Wheeler on December 14, 1953 and he preceded her in death on May 2, 1970. Also preceding her in death are her parents, two sisters Mary Alice Paxton and Katrina Russell and two brothers Cleo and Ernest Morrison.
Survivors include two sons, George M. (Brenda) Wheeler and David B. Wheeler both of Springfield; two grandchildren, Andrew M. (Sarah) Wheeler and Jennifer R. Wheeler; one brother J.B. (Nancy) Morrison of Chicago and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lois was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, cooking and caring for her family. She was a homemaker and retired from St. John’s Hospital after 20 years of working as a Nurse’s Assistant.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, June 3, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Robert Green officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
