Lloyd "Mark" McCloughan
Lloyd “Mark” McCloughan, age 50, of Glenarm, went to be with his Lord at 7:44 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Carlinville Area Hospital, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born on May 18, 1965 in Springfield, to Robert Leroy and Helen Luella Freed McCloughan.
Mark was a member of Chatham Christian Church. He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed classic cars. He was very proud of his Pontiac Phoenix, in which he had invested countless hours restoring. He also enjoyed riding his four wheelers and camping. Going to Cardinals games at Busch Stadium was another one of his favorite pastimes. He loved going to concerts and listening to music. He always had music playing at home or while working in the garage. Occasionally he could be caught playing the air guitar, or even a broom! Mark was a very hard working man and was very dedicated to his job. He worked for over 25 years at the Mel-o-Cream plant as a maintenance technician, before accepting a maintenance position at Kincaid Generation.
He loved having family over during the holidays, as long as we took our shoes off before stepping on the carpet! Mark always hosted Thanksgiving dinner, since the holiday season was his favorite time of year. He was always counting down the number of shopping days before Christmas, even though he always started shopping for gifts early! Giving gifts and being with family during the holidays brought him so much joy. Everyone loved his cooking, not just his Thanksgiving turkey, but even his barbecue, and made from scratch cakes and pasta. He also enjoyed working in the garden, growing fresh fruits and veggies to use in his recipes.
Spending time with family and friends was very important to Mark. He was a wonderful father, always compassionate, nurturing, and full of wisdom. Mark was always ready and willing to help those around him in any way he could. Mark knew how to have fun and live life to the fullest, but was always looking out for those he loved. He had a very unique sense of humor, and his laugh was contagious. His memory will live on with his countless friends and family members. The impact he made on our lives was so prominent, it will always be felt, and could never be forgotten.
He is survived by his daughter, Hannah McCloughan of Springfield; his two sons, Brett McCloughan of Ferguson, MO and Benjamin (Ashley) McCloughan of Virden; his granddaughter, Annabelle McCloughan; his mother, Helen McCloughan of Springfield; his two sisters, Debbie (Bill) Birdsell of Springfield and Chris Miller of Billings, MT; his two brothers, Scott McCloughan of Springfield and Tom McCloughan of Riverton; his uncle, Scott Carlton McCloughan of Springfield; his nieces and nephews, Denise McCloughan of Chatham; Debi Ann (Phillip) Parga of Pawnee; Laura Miller and Sarah Spragg, both of Billings, MT; and Adrienne, Gage, and Moriah McCloughan, all of Riverton; and his great-nieces and nephews, Luke, Alexis, Kylie, Braden, Baelynn, James, William, and Connor.
Mark was preceded in death by his father.
