Lloyd E. "Stub" Richardson
Lloyd Elwin “Stub” Richardson, 86, of Springfield, died at 4:07 pm, Friday, September 12, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born October 5, 1927 in Riverton to Rai Elwin and Clara Corena Crane Richardson. He married Helen Lucille Buraski on October 28, 1950.
Survivors include his wife Helen of Springfield; three children: Mike (Melissa) Richardson of Springfield; Pat (Keith) Hohimer of Lemont, and Rai (Beth) Richardson; nine grandchildren: Stacy (Andrew) Kmett, Drew (Kara) Richardson, Gabrielle Richardson, Josh (Sherrie) Hohimer, Ann (Todd) Mann, Casey Richardson, Tess Richardson, and Claire Richardson; nine great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Eloise Reinders.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. When he returned home he began working for the A & P Tea Company on North Fifth Street and continued working at the Sangamon Avenue store, retiring after 33 years. He then worked as a custodian for St. Joseph’s
Grade School and as a painter for Buraski Construction. He was also a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
Visitation: 10:30- 11:30 am, Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at St. Aloysius Church.
Funeral Mass: 11:30 am, Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at St. Aloysius Church with Father Clinton Honkomp, O.P. officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
