Linda Black
Linda Sue Black, 73, of Springfield, died at 10:50 pm, Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born August 4, 1941 in Lawrenceville, IL to Loren and Dorothy McCracken Miller. She married Edward D. Black, Sr. in 1961 and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2006.
She is survived by one sister, Diane (Butch) Romanotto; four daughters, Tammy (Pete) Hill, Linda Harris, Davalie Silvey and Lauren (Fred) Squires; three sons, Rick (Tammy) Leonard, James (Kathy) Black and Edward (Patty) Black, III; one stepson, Eddie Black Jr. and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Linda graduated from Lanphier High School. She was the first crossing guard in Springfield for fifteen years. Later in life she became a certified nursing assistant. That is when she found her passion. She loved taking care of people. She enjoyed watching movies “especially Christmas shows”, fishing, camping and taking care of kids.
Visitation: 10am – 12pm, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 12 pm, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Curt Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.

My condolences go out to the whole family. Me n my daughter are a couple of the many people she opened her arms to and treated us just like we was family always. Linda aka GG was a great, loving, caring, amazing n beautiful woman. RIP GG. You will be missed very much but never forgotten. Love you GG
