Lillian “Chick” Peebles-Blakley
SPRINGFIELD – Lillian “Chick” Peebles-Blakley, 86, of Springfield, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at her residence.
She was born August 11, 1920 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Harley and Grace Sexton. She married Walter Peebles on November 10, 1939; he preceded her in death in 1968. She married Ralph Blakley on October 8, 1970; he preceded her in death in 1984. Her parents; one son, Gary Peebles; one daughter, Joyce Peebles; one granddaughter, Lanae Peebles; and two brothers, Harold and Charles Sexton, also preceded him in death.
Mrs. Peebles-Blakley was a homemaker. Chick was a loving mother who dedicated her life to raising her children. She was a wonderful friend to many and a volunteer for many clubs and organizations over the years.
Survivors: one daughter-in-law, Jan Peebles of Springfield; one son, Terry (wife, Theresa) Peebles of Springfield; three stepsons; five grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Neonatal Center or the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, Saturday, June 9, 2007. Services: 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 9, 2007, Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial: Oak Ridge Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home of Service.
