Lillian Evelyn DeMeyer
Lillian Evelyn DeMeyer, 90, of Springfield died at 2:59 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born June 8, 1923 in Pana, IL to James and Lillian Barnstable Guinnee. She married Maurice DeMeyer on May 6, 1947 and he survives.
She is also survived by two daughters: Renee (Larry) Stafford of Kansas City, MO and Ann Garten of Redondo Beach, CA; two sons: John (Barbara) DeMeyer of Barnhart, MO and Daniel (Elaine) DeMeyer of Rockwall, TX; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two grandsons: Stephen and Cameron DeMeyer and two brothers: James and Dale Guinnee
Lillian was a member of Christ the King Church where she was a founder of the Christ the King Over 50 Club. She started the Funeral Choir and Funeral Luncheons committee. She was also a founder of Caregivers of Springfield. She was president of HEA, Springfield Women’s Club, Elections Judge for Woodside Township, Women’s Altar and Rosary Society and was a Chaplain at Memorial Medical Center and St. John’s Hospital. She was a resident of Springfield since 1947 and formerly of Pana. She was employed as the school secretary for Christ the King School.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Christ the King Church.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2013 at Christ the King Church with Reverend Joseph Ring officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Pana.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Caregivers of Springfield, or to Christ the King Church for mass in memory of Lillian.
