Lillian Bernice Konrad
Lillian Bernice Konrad, 86, a resident of Manor Court in Peru since 2004, formerly of Springfield, died February 12, 2008, in Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru.
Services for Mrs. Konrad will be held in Springfield at Staab Funeral Home on Friday, June 6th. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with the Memorial Service to be at 11:00. Her Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery at 12:00.
Lillian was born November 20, 1921, in Springfield to Fred Smith and Lillian (Collins) Smith, where she graduated from Springfield High School. In 1940, she married Kenneth A. Konrad and they had two children Fred and Galey. The Konrads were active in the Springfield schools and in the community where they had a large circle of family and friends.
She worked at the Illinois State Library and was also a medical caseworker for Sangamon County.
Lillian, a member at Salisbury Christian Church, was a former member of both West Side Christian and South Side Christian Churches where she served as Sunday school teacher and member of the choirs. Lillian’s was a welcoming home always full of music.
Survivors are one son, Fred Konrad of Oglesby; one daughter Galey Decker of Chicago; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many cousins. Her husband preceded her in death on December 17, 1981.
