SALT LAKE CITY,Utah – Libby Weis died March 3, 2010, in Salt Lake City, Utah where she had been residing for the past 7 years.
She was born June 15, 1917, in Los Angeles, CA. She grew up in Spokane, WA, the oldest of 6 children. She lived most of her life in Springfield, IL after high school, where she met and married the love of her life, William C. Weis, in 1940.
She was a homemaker, mother and wonderful cook, which was her life’s ambition. Libby enjoyed her many friends and playing bridge in several ladies clubs. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Home Coterie and St. John’s Samaritan Hospital Guild. We will all forever recount her humorous quotes.
She is surved by her sons, William Weis Jr. (Dorothy) of Salt Lake City, UT and James Weis (Patti) of Colorado Springs, CO; daughters Sue McCoy (Will) of Salt Lake City, UT, Judy Lascody (Larry) of Springfield, IL and Mary Barthhurst (Lonnie) of Litchfield, IL; siblings, Marge (Steve) Ferguson of Issaquah, WA, Eugene (Carol) Day of Louisville, KY, twins Dorothy (Rev. Ward) Spencer of Erlanger, KY and Don (Joan) Day of Tacoma, WA, and Art Day of Petaluma, CA; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and her mother, Edna Cline Day.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at St. Agnes Church, with Revered Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
