Lewis Harmony
Lewis Harmony, 89, of Chatham, died at 9:25 pm Sunday, July 6, 2014 at home. He was born January 8, 1925 in Springfield to Louis and Ella Darnaby Harmony. He married Anna Romanotto on June 5, 1948. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rita Ann Harmony, two brothers and four sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Anna; two sons, David Harmony of Springfield and Michael (Linda) Harmony of Champaign; three grandchildren, Andrea (Jamie) Hardison of Champaign, Erica (Carl) Liskey of Chicago and Danielle Swindel of Springfield; one great granddaughter, Lea Hardison of Champaign; one brother, Ben (Helen) Harmony of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.
Lewis was a resident of Chatham for over 50 years. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II. Mr. Harmony retired from Nabisco after 37 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid news watcher.
Visitation: 10 am – 12 pm Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 12:00 pm Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Dennis J. Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail and US Army.
Mr. Harmony served in World War II in General Patton’s Third Army. Relieved the 101st Airborne at Bastogne and fought in the Battle of Bulge. He received the silver Battle Star and a Unit Presidential Citation. He went on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
