Leon "Butch" Call
Leon “Butch” Call, II, 68, of Springfield, died at 1:38 pm, Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 6, 1945, in Springfield to Leon and Juanita Kimmel Call, Sr. He married June Petrella on November 18, 1972 and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Michelle “Shelly” (Mike) Young of Springfield; two sons, Aaron (Nicole) Call of Summerville, SC and Chris Call of Springfield; three grandchildren, Alex Delahunt, Madison Call and Kelci Young; three sisters, Deborah Lewis of Springfield, Sandra (Charles) Flatt of Buckhart and Kathryn (Larry) Imler of Springfield; special Aunt and Uncle Betty and Charlie Whittemore of South Sutton, NH and several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved dog Sadie and Max the cat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Jerome and Una Kimmel and Shirley and Annie Call.
Butch was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and Knights of Columbus Council #4175 and was a US Air Force Veteran. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, shopping, fishing and golf. He always could find a bargain anywhere and would share the knowledge. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a Radiology Technologist at Memorial Medical Center for twenty-six years and St. John’s Hospital for seven years.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Friday, March 21, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Church, with Reverend Dean Probst officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
