Lee E. Kilbourne
Lee E. Kilbourne, formerly of Waukegan, IL died at 1:10 pm Thursday, September 5, 2019 at his residence. He was born on April 15, 1924 in Lynch, KY to Roy F. and Matilda (Snodgrass) Kilbourne. He married Margaret A. Gibes on July 19, 1947 and she preceded him in death on February 7, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; William, Carl and Robert Kilbourne.
Lee is survived by three daughters, Linda (Robert) Dahl of Jerome, IL, Anne Kilbourne of Chelan, WA and Mary (Duane) Wiltberger of Black, MO; one son, Dr. John T. (Kyra Walsh) Kilbourne of Bridgman, MI; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita (Kenneth) Dickerson of Ball Ground, GA and Betty (Jim) Doran-Kelly; three brothers, James (Lois) Kilbourne of Marian, NC, Charles (Eva) Kilbourne of Gate City, VA and Don (Barbara) Kilbourne of Weber City, VA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Before moving to Sherman in August of 2000, Lee spent most of his life in Waukegan, IL. Lee was a United States Navy Veteran that served during World War II on the Navy Destroyer Earnest G. Small, DD838. He went on to be the Civilian Training Director at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station in Illinois, retiring after 25 years of service. He then became a training consultant and college educator. Lee was a former member of St. John Vianney Church and had recently been attending Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Lesterville, MO while spending time there with his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and participated in many Pro-Life activities.
Visitation: 9:30-10:30 am, Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at St. John Vianney Church-Sherman.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 am Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at St. John Vianney Church-Sherman with Rev. Geroge Nellikunnel officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
