Laura Suarez
Laura Suarez, 101, of Springfield died Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home. She was born October 11, 1913, in Divernon, IL, the daughter of Victor and Mari Pongracz Papai. She married Silver Suarez on October 19, 1935; he preceded her in death May 4, 2004.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony “Tony” Suarez April 19, 2011.
She is survived by one son, Joseph (Lana) of Springfield; two grandchildren, David (Lori) Suarez and Gayle Gatons; five great grandchildren; one great great grandson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, six brothers: Steve, Victor, Louis, Alfred, Ernest and William, four sisters: Mary Harrity, Elizabeth Burg, Anna Oggero and Theresa McGee.
Laura worked at Allis Chalmers during WWII and after her husband returned home, she was a home maker. She was very supportive of her husband’s career and accompanied him to many events during his law enforcement career.
Visitation: The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 – 7 pm, Friday, August 28, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with. Burial will follow at Brush Creek Cemetery in Divernon, IL.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Home in Laura’s honor.

What a long life Aunt Laura lived. She had so many interesting stories about growing up in Divernon, whose houses she worked in, and the early days of Uncle Silver's career. She touched so many lives in so many ways. Rest in peace.
