Laura L. Blackwell
SPRINGFIELD – Laura Leslie Blackwell, 50, of Springfield, departed from this life to be eternally present with her Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son Jesus Christ at 9:48 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2009. She courageously fought a battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 19, 1958, in Springfield, the daughter of Thomas and Donna Downey Hall. She married Robert Bruce Blackwell on May 25, 1984.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Blackwell of Springfield; her parents, Thomas and Donna Hall of Chatham; two brothers,
Brian (wife, Sheri) Hall of Springfield and Greg (wife, Joyce) Hall of Kentland, Ind.; several aunts and uncles; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Following graduation from high school, she worked at Franklin Life as a correspondent secretary/supervisor for 25 years. After retiring from Franklin Life, she worked for three years at Hollywood Home Builders and then worked for U.S. Truss and R.P. Lumber Co. until the present.
Being athletic, she enjoyed bowling in a league with her husband, and she had also played softball. She dearly loved her cats, her squirrels, her birds and all of God’s creatures.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Jakaitis officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
