Larry Joseph Coleman
Larry Joseph Coleman, 64, of Springfield, formerly of Glenarm, died at 10:23 am, Thursday, December 26, 2013 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born October 9, 1949 in Jacksonville, to Robert and Mary Lou Horton Coleman. He married Carol Horrell on January 21, 1984.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Coleman; five sons, Cuyler (Emily) Coleman of Glenarm, Sean Coleman of Springfield, Joshua Coleman of New York City, NY, Brandon (Nicki) Millburg of Troy and Todd Millburg of Springfield; one daughter, Whitney Coleman, of Falls Creek, WI; seven grandchildren, Eila, Oliver, Cuylie, Gavin, Ryker, Cool, and Beau; mother, Mary Lou Coleman of Chatham and two sisters, Janet (Denny) Smith of Athens and Karen (Joe) Hinkle of Lincoln and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
His father preceded him in death.
Larry was a member of Church of the Little Flower, where he served as Eucharistic Minister and Mass Coordinator. He was a member of Cursillo, Dominican Associates, Knights of Columbus #4179. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including rollerblading, biking and boating. He served as a member of the Illinois National Guard during the Vietnam War.
He retired from the State of Illinois after 16 years of service at Commissioner of Banks. After retirement Larry owned and operated Larry Coleman Consulting.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Monday, December 30, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 4 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Church of the Little Flower with Monsignor John Ossola officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Glenarm.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Breadline.
