Larry Dale Lyons
Larry Dale Lyons, 67, of Springfield, died Friday, February 7, 2014 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born February 21, 1946 in Springfield, to Dale A. and Elaine Doris Carver Lyons. He married Venita Long and she survives him.
He is also survived by one daughter, Nora (Ronald James) Pollard of Mt. Auburn; two sons, Dale (Susan) Lyons of Dawson, Greg (Angie) Lyons of Rochester; six grandchildren, Seth Poorman, Jacob Poorman, Jaden Lyons, Camryn Lyons, Parker Lyons and Luke Lyons; five brothers and sisters, Estelle Lyons, Terry Lyons, Alex (Dana) Lyons and Jolene Lyons all of Springfield, and Cathy (Larry Boroweic) of Riverton and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Larry was a resident of Springfield all his life. He served in the United States Army and was a flooring contractor by trade. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and restoring cars. He was a member and Deacon of South Tower Community Church and was also a member of the DAV Club.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Additional Visitation and Funeral Services: 10:00 am until time of funeral services at 10:30 am, Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at South Tower Community Church with
Reverend Charlie Carver officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler Cemetery where Sangamon County Inter-Veterans and the United States Army will conduct military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the DAV or South Tower Community Church.
