SPRINGFIELD – Kenneth M. Kolaz, 84, of Springfield, died Friday, May 18, 2007 at St. John’s Hospice.

He was born in 1922 in Springfield, IL, the son of Michael and Anna Zupansic Kolaz. He married Joyce Lamie of Joliet in 1948; she preceded him in death in 1998. His parents; two brothers, Bill and James; and one sister, Mercedes, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Kolaz retired in 1986 after 34 years with Federated Funeral Directors, where he was an officer and served on the Board of Directors. He also served as director on the Sacred Heart Credit Union (now Heartland Credit Union) for 26 years. He was a charter member of Christ the King Church. and a member of Senior Golf League of Springfield. He was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II and overseas for two and a half years in ETO. He was a graduate of Marquette University.

Survivors: two daughters, Deborah Kolaz of Mountain View, CA and Elizabeth “Libby” Kolaz of Springfield; one son, Thomas (wife, Mary Kay) Kolaz of Tucson, AZ; one granddaughter, Chloe Kolaz of Tucson, AZ; one brother, John (wife, Margie) Kolaz of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Hospice or Catholic Charities.

Visitation will be held 9:00-10:00 a.m., May 22, 2007 at Christ the King Church. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m., May 22, 2007 at Christ the King Church, Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial: Calvary Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home of Service.
