Kenneth H. Davenport, Jr.
Kenneth H. Davenport, Jr., 71, of Springfield, died at 9:57 PM, Saturday, May 30, 2015 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born October 27, 1943 in Springfield, to Kenneth H., Sr. and Thelma Buck Davenport. He married Victoria Harris Rosenthal in 2000.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Victoria, with whom he has shared the past twenty two years; three sons, Matthew (Brae) Davenport of Springfield, Aaron Davenport of Salisbury and Chris Davenport of Springfield; two step sons, Michael Rosenthal and Daniel (Vanessa) Rosenthal both of Springfield; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Nancy (Pat) Derhake of Springfield; two brothers, Gerry (Rhonda) Davenport and Kirby (Martha) Davenport both of Springfield; one uncle Danny Buck of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant son, Jeffery Davenport.
Kenneth is a graduate of Lanphier High School and Quincy University. He was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force Reserves. He retired after 20+ years of service from the State of Illinois as an operating engineer for local #399. He had previously worked for Capital Township as an accountant.
Kenneth was a member of Real Life Church. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Masonic Lodge #500; Springfield Consistency of the Scottish Rite; ANSAR Shriner. He was previously a member of the AATV Four Wheeler Unit of the ANSAR Shrine and Springfield Motor Boat Club; IATSE #138; Laborers Union; Whitetails and Ducks Unlimited; NWTF and was a Republican Precinct Committee Man.
Visitation: 1-3 pm Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 3pm. An additional visitation will be held from 10:30 – 11:30 am, Monday, June 8, 2015 at Real Life Church.
Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Monday, June 8, 2015 at Real Life Church with Pastor Clint Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted.
Following the Burial there will be a meal provided at Real Life Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to ANSAR Shriner Children’s Hospital.
