Keith Edward Miller
Keith Edward Miller, 85, of Springfield, passed away, with his wife at his side, at 2:00 am, Sunday, June 26, 2016, at St. John’s Hospital, after a lengthy battle with infections following a stroke in October 2015. He was born August 6, 1930 in Beecher City, IL, to Wilburn and Lottchen McArdle Miller. He married Dorothy June Ellis on March 5, 1955.
Mr. Miller served four years in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Monongahela. Before entering the service, he farmed with his father and neighbors. He retired in 1991 from Decatur Caterpillar after thirty six years of service and went on to various part-time positions until 2006. One including the Illinois Supreme Court at Springfield. He was a faithful member of the Christian church. He enjoyed woodworking vegetable and flower gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife of over sixty-one years; three sons, Brian (Amy), Darin (Andrea) and Brent; two step grandchildren, Jaron and Ashley; three grandchildren, Noah, Jonah and Emma; two sisters Betty (Raymond) Lorton of Beecher City and Audrey Miller of Effingham. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dean and Roland and brother-in-law, Robert Miller.
Visitation: 11am-12:30 pm, Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Curt Daniel officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
