Kaye M. Smith Suter
Kaye M. Smith-Suter, 72, of Jacksonville, died at 4:33 p.m., Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born August 23, 1941 in Jacksonville, to Cecil W. and Helen M. Beeley Strubbe. Kaye first married Kenneth Neil Smith on October 26, 1963 and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1993. She later married Henry Ray Suter on January 24, 1998 and he survives.
Also surviving are her three sons, Randall Smith of Springfield, Gerald (Cheryl) Smith of Mechanicsburg and Jeffrey Allen (Deborah) Smith of Riverton; two step children, Hank Suter and Diana (Carl) Bimm both of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Susan (Larry) Hacker of Jacksonville; one sister-in-law, Kathy Strubbe of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents and one brother, Gary Dean Strubbe also preceded her in death.
Kaye retired from St. John’s Hospital as a Clerk in the Cardiac Care Unit. She was a member of Our Saviors Catholic Church in Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Antique Car Club. She formerly enjoyed bowling, sewing and quilting.
Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at St. Cabrini Church with Reverend Tom Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
