SHERMAN – Katherine Cartwright, 91, of Sherman, died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Villa Health Care East.
She was born December 21, 1915 in Hardinsburg, KY, the daughter of Eli and Ida Louis Board. She married William Paul Cartwright on April 9, 1936; he preceded her in death on August 7, 1999. Her parents; one granddaughter, Kimberly Katherine Badali; two grandsons, Stephen and Anthony Quigley; and thee sisters also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cartwright owned a dress boutique in Orleans, IN. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of American Business Women’s Association and Phi Beta Psi Sorority, where she held many national offices. She was also a Girl Scout Leader, assisted her husband in his business, and ran her own business for many years.
Survivors: four daughters, Patricia (husband, James) Derrick of Springfield, Gloria Jean Fancher of Florida, Betty Jean Quigley of Bedford, IN, and Shirley (husband, Alan) Young of Campbellsville, KY; 14 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Alberta Ellis of Frankfort, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation, American Heart Association, or American Diabetes Foundation.
Visitation will be held 12:00-1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Cresthaven Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel in Mitchell, IN.
