June E. Winn

DUQUOIN – June E. Winn, 77, of DuQuoin, formerly of Springfield, died Monday, April 23, 2007 at St. John’s Hospice.

She was born December 29, 1929 in Vergennes, IL, the daughter of Charles Murray and LaVerne Davis Bastien. She married Leon Winn in DuQuoin; he preceded her in death on June 15, 1982. Her parents and stepfather, Bill Fox, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Winn was a homemaker, a clerk at Gold Exchange, and a clerk at Pease’s Candy. She was of the Presbyterian faith. She graduated from DuQuoin High School in 1948. She loved her family, home, her many friends, shopping, and working.

Survivors: one son, Lonnie L. Winn of Auburn; four grandchildren, Gregory Lee (wife, Julie) Winn of Auburn, Jason Carnett of Phoenix, AZ, and Cory and Whitney Brockmeyer of Auburn; one sister-in-law, Jo Wheatley of Springfield; one brother, Bob (wife, Verna) Bastien of DuQuoin; three uncles, Galen Davis, Audrey Davis, and Ralph Cook, all of DuQuoin; one aunt, Mabel Wynn of DuQuoin; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, Donation Processing Center, P. O. Box 96010, Washington, DC 20077 or Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Staab Funeral Home and 12:00 noon-1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin.
