Julia C. Boucher
Julia Gram Boucher, 86 of Springfield, died at 2 am, Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Maple Ridge Care Center in Lincoln. She was born January 6, 1926, in Virden, the daughter of Kirby Elias and Hallie E. Gregg Gram. Julia is survived by her son, Less Boucher and his wife Beth of Springfield; brother, Ed (Delores) Vance of Stuart, Fl; and several nieces and nephews . She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Virginia Kissick; four brothers, Robert Gram, Bill Gram, Kirby Gram, and John Vance.
Julia was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Virden and also attended Calvary Temple. She was a Virden High School graduate of the Class of 1944. Julia was a Life Claims Manager at Horace Mann retiring after 33 years, and was named Employee of the Year in 1978. She was the scorekeeper for the Virden Little League, Pony League, and Colt League and had coached a girl’s softball team in Virden. Julia was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and was born the year they won their first World Series. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling, spending time with friends, and was active with the Horace Mann Retiree Group, and had formerly been active with the Springfield Red Birds Booster Club. She especially enjoyed visiting her brother in Florida during the Cardinals Spring Training.
Visitation: 4-6 pm, Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 am Monday June 11, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Chaplain Marty Nagel officiating.
Burial will be in Virden Cemetery.
The family requests memorial contributions be given to Special Olympics or a Charity of the Donor’s Choice
