Jules I. Viecelli, Sr., 91, of Springfield, died at 10:45 am, Sunday, May 6, 2012 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born September 1, 1920 in Kirksville, Missouri to Dominic and Odell Duprize Viecelli. He married Mona Rose on April 19, 1942 and she preceded him in death on October 14, 2004. He parents also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Charles) Hagaman of Springfield and Carol Ann (John) Clark of Nampa, ID; one son Jules I. (Judy) Viecelli, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Jules was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 32, VFW 10302 and 40 & 8. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals.
Jules worked as a shop foreman for Edwards Plumbing and Heating for 35 years.
Graveside Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with services provided by the 40 & 8. Military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
