Judith E. Panton
SPRINGFIELD – Judith E. (Hankins) Panton, 58, of Springfield passed away Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at her home.
She was born June 27, 1950, in Springfield to Benjamin and Owena Jones Hankins. She married Milton Panton in 1976; he preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 2001.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, Owena Hankins and two sisters, Kay (Hankins) Bullock and Pat Hankins.
She is survived by her father, Benjamin Hankins of Williamsville; two sons, Haralabos Robi Panton and Michael Panton, both of Springfield; a sister, Barbara (Lynn) Casper of St. Genevieve, Mo.; two brothers, Rex (wife, Judy) Hankins of Chatham and Max (wife, Virginia) Hankins of Williamsville; and 37 nieces and nephews.
Judith Judy was a 1968 graduate of Williamsville High School and celebrated her 40th reunion with classmates this summer.
She retired from the State of Illinois, DHS after a 34-year career in the personnel division of various departments. Prior to that, she was a legal secretary for Brown, Hay and Stephens Attorneys.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 10 am, Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Staab, with the Rev. Gene Bilotti officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Memorial gifts are suggested to Memorial Hospice and the American Cancer Society.
