John W. Milburn
SPRINGFIELD – John W. Milburn, 74, of Springfield died at 4 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 9, 1935, in Mechanicsburg, the son of William S. and Ella VanFossen Milburn. He married Dorothy J. Barlow on Dec. 26, 1953.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Wahlsmith and Gwen Beach; and a brother, Everett Milburn.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dot Milburn of Springfield; five daughters, Diane (Gale) Langley, Barb Milburn, Brenda (Ray) Burris, Carolyn (Kevin) Schuh, all of Springfield and Judy (Howie) Claussen of Riverton; two sons, Mike (Tammie) Milburn of Dawson and Bill (Sharon) Milburn of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Mike Jr. (Adeleann), Adam, TJ, Justin, Kelsi, Kenzi, and Kace; three great-grandchildren, Bridget, Kaylee, Damian; a sister, Donna (Bob) Smith of Springfield; two brothers, Bill (Shirley) Milburn and Jim (Rhea) Milburn, both of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He was the manager of Midwest Truck stop for 22 years, Pool Center Parts department manager for 15 years and Illini Pools parts manager, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of Ansar Shrine, Masons Tyrian Lodge 333 and Arab Patrol. John loved fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family. He was a graduate of Feitschans High School.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday March 29, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Masonic services beginning at 5:45 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery
