John Raymond Jackson
John Raymond Jackson, 73, of Worden, formerly of Springfield, died at 6:47 pm, Thursday, April 27, 2017 at his home. He was born on August 2, 1943 in Springfield, to Floyd and Margaret Craig Jackson.
He married Shirley Marie Sponsler and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2016.
Survivors include two daughters; Margaret (Korey) Brinkman and Julie Podshadley both of Worden, IL; four grandchildren; John and Brooke Brinkman and Abigail and Jackson Podshadley; mother; Margaret Jackson of Springfield; three sisters, Joanne (Vic) DeCroix of Metamora, Judy Jackson of Springfield, Gayle (Ron) Hinkle of Maryville, IL; one brother; Richard “Rick” (Judy) Jackson of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, father and son-in-law; Craig Podshadley.
John was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed restoring old cars and working in the yard. He was an avid Cardinals and NASCAR fan.
He retired from the City of Springfield after 25 years of service.
Visitation: 10 – 11:30 am Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield
Funeral Service: 11:30 am Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating. Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

WORKED FOR AND WITH JOHN AT CWLP GARAGE FOR A FEW YEARS. HE WAS A GREAT BOSS AND VERY NICE GENTLEMAN.
