John Jerald Norman
SPRINGFIELD – John Jerald Norman, 61, of Springfield died at 10:40 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born July 19, 1947, in Springfield, the son of Raymond and Beatrice Paschon Norman. He married Sharon K. Oberreiter on July 21, 1973.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Doug and Dean Norman; and one sister, Alberta Norman.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon K. Norman of Springfield; two daughters, Traci Norman and Tonya (Micah) Miller, both of Springfield; five sisters, Delores (Warren) Harmon of Manhattan, Lutisha Prior of Springfield, Loretta Jimison of Springfield, Patricia (David) Dahlkamp of Glenarm and Debbie (Bill) Landrith of Springfield; a brother, James (Joyce) Norman of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
John was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He retired in 2000 from Laborers Local 477.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Laborers Local 477. His family was his pride and joy. He loved hunting and fishing with his buddies. He loved NASCAR, and most of all the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a proud family man.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, where Sangamon County Interveterans will conduct military honors.
