John "Jack" Jennings Gardner
John “Jack” Jennings Gardner, 74, of Springfield, died at 6:59 am, Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born July 29, 1941 in Springfield, to Frank and Reva Jennings Gardner. He married Donna Pruitt on April 4, 1965 and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Mark (Stacie) Gardner of Bloomington; Greg (Roxanne) Gardner of Chatham and Brad (Erin) Gardner of Bloomington; nine grandchildren, Breanne, Brooke, Kate, Ryan, Paige, Leah, Zack, Lauren and Tyler; one sister, Janet Gardner of Springfield; one brother, James “Jim” (Marilyn) Gardner of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew Jeffrey Gardner.
Jack was a teacher and coach for thirty-five years for Southeast High School and is in the State Hall of fame for his coaching of wrestling. He is a member of St. Jude Church.
Memorial Gathering: 4-7 pm, Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Staab Funeral Home.
Memorial Service: 10 am, Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend R. Dean Probst officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
