John Harrison Becker
John Harrison Becker, 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at his home in Springfield. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of John H. (Sr.) and Marguerite Becker, who preceded him in death.
John graduated from Springfield High School, where he played varsity basketball, and from Bradley University where he earned a degree in Commercial Art with a minor in Fine Arts.
He married Ann Lobenstein on February 8, 1957 in Springfield.
John retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation after 37 years of service.
He was a long-time member of Luther Memorial Church, Masonic Lodge 500, Springfield Consistory and Ansar Shrine. He was also a member of Anchor Boat Club and Elks Lodge #158. In past years, John volunteered at Grace Food Pantry and Meals-on-Wheels.
Surviving are his wife, Ann, and daughters Karen Becker and Marcia (Barry) Kelley, all of Springfield; sister in law, Alice Lobenstein of Seattle, WA and niece Anne DeAngelis of Charlottesville, VA.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Staab Funeral Home on Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. followed by a service of remembrance at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Ron Moorman and Pastor William Zanton officiating.
Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Food Pantry or Luther Memorial Church.

Ann, So sorry to hear about John. I worked for John at IDOT for several years in the Exhibit Unit before he transferred to the Public Affairs unit. I have many memories of John while working for him. You and your family are in my prayers.
