John Garner

John C. “Shop Pop” Garner, 63, of Auburn died at 6:37 pm Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born November 5, 1949 in Peru, IL to Ronald C. and Betty Lou Greening Garner. He married Geri Giczewski May 13, 1980. Preceding him in death are his father and special aunt, Enid Johnson.

John was a painter for Niemczyk Painting. He was a former member of the Brown Bomber. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Surviving are his wife, Geri of Auburn; two daughters, Sarah (Bill) Stone of Chestnut and Erica Vaughn of Auburn; four grandchildren, twins, Jasmine and Megan, Chloe and Cail; mother, Betty Lou Garner of LaSalle; two sisters, Susan Garner and Linda (Don) Wilson both of Oglesby; one brother, Richard (Trish) Garner of Springfield and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private services will be held at a later date.
