John F. Dunbar
SPRINGFIELD – John F. Dunbar, 64, of Springfield, formerly of Las Vegas, died at 9:04 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 26, 1944, in Springfield, the son of Tom and Frances Cox Dunbar Sr.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe Dunbar.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Dunbar of Springfield; a daughter, Rebecka (Jim) Caster of New Berlin; a grandson, Andrew Caster; a sister, Maryann (Horst) Konrad of Springfield; four brothers, Tom (Kim) Dunbar Jr. of California, Bob (Lynda) Dunbar of Springfield, Dick Dunbar of California, and Gary (Donna) Dunbar of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was the original owner of Dunbar Towing in Springfield and worked as a master locksmith in Las Vegas for ABC Locksmiths. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a sergeant with the First Cavalry in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of VFW in Petersburg. He enjoyed his work and spending time with his family.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
