JoAnn Butler
SPRINGFIELD, IL- JoAnn Butler, 85, of Springfield passed on to heaven at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born March 17, 1931 to Joseph and Dorothy (Bryan) Ferreira. She married Thomas L. Butler on March 19, 1948, who preceded her in death on December 3, 2010, after 62 years of delightful marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and sister Mary Hawkes.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda S. (Paul) Hayes of Springfield and Lisa L. Maltby of Virden; six grandchildren, Tim Barrett Jr., Jamie (Fiancé: David Mayberry) Barrett, Sarah Maltby, Ellen Maltby, Brettany (Matt) Hummert, and Jennifer Hayes; three great grandchildren, Abigail Bowen, Gabriel Bowen, and Blake Hummert; sister, Jean Kirk of Springfield, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
JoAnn was a homemaker and formerly a substitute teacher. In earlier years she and Tom enjoyed bingo, bowling, their pontoon boat, vacationing, family and pets. JoAnn never hesitated to help others. She was a member of Parkway Christian Church in Springfield.
Gathering: 10 am – 12 pm, Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Parkway Christian Church in Springfield.
Memorial Service: 12 pm, Saturday April 30, 2016 at Parkway Christian Church with Pastor Mark Gifford officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.
