Jill Dianne Rubsam
ATHENS – Jill Dianne Rubsam, 48, of Athens died at 11:47 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born March 5, 1960, in Effingham, the daughter of Walter and Doris Hanna Rubsam. She was preceded in death by her father.
Miss Rubsam was a resident of the Springfield area since 1983. She was a clerk at St. John’s Hospital since 1984, last working in the surgery department and PRN in cardiac recovery unit. She formerly worked in the ICU. She also substitute taught for the Springfield School District from 1983 to 1984 and also was a private tutor.
She was of the Catholic faith. She was a member of the Illinois Horse and Pony Breeders and Exhibitors and a former member of the American Saddle Horse Association. She loved sewing, especially costumes and surgery scrub caps. She played the French horn in municipal bands in Flora and Olney and at Eastern Illinois University in the marching band. She graduated from East Richland High School in 1978, Olney Central College in 1980 and Eastern Illinois University in 1983 with a biology and zoology major and received her teaching certificate.
She is survived by her mother, Doris Rubsam of Olney; two sister, Sharon Rubsam and Gail Rubsam, both of Cantrall; two brothers, Tony (wife, Marsha) Rubsam of Effingham and Brad (wife, Wendy) Rubsam of Olney; several aunts and uncles; several niece, nephews and cousins; and her American Saddle Bred Horse, Dewey.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at noon Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home with the Rev. Peter Harman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
