Jennie Rentschler Nation
Jennie Rentschler Nation, 92, of Riverton, died on June 23, 2011. She was born in Riverton, Illinois on November 18, 1918, the daughter of Domenco and Nunzia (Bartlomucci) Vespa.
She first married George T. Rentschler on December 3, 1939. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1971. She then married John C. Nation on February 14, 1973 and he preceded her in death on November 15, 1978. Her parents and six siblings also preceded her in death.
Jennie is survived by one son, Michael G. (Angie) Rentschler; one grandson, Aaron (Wendy) Rentschler and one great-grandson, Clayton Rentschler of Riverton, IL. She is also survived by two step-grandsons, Nathan (Teresa) Joslin and James (Tracy) Morgan; four step-great-grandchildren, James and Josie Joslin and Sydney and Reece Morgan and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jennie worked at the Illiopolis Ordnance Plant during WWII, then as a housewife for many years. Once widowed, she worked at S.A. Barker as a seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and cooking for her family. Her most treasured moments were spent talking over “old times” with her son, Mike and her beloved grandson, Aaron, as well as watching her great grandchildren play. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Riverton.
Visitation: 9-11 am, Monday, June 27, 2011 at St. James Church in Riverton.
Funeral Mass: 11 am, Monday, June 27, 2011 at St. James Church in Riverton with Reverend Joseph Ring officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family request memorial donations be made to St. James Church.
